I didn't mean saying j'adoube and then randomly touching pieces, as amusing as that might be. But what I was referring to is a player making j'adoube the first step in their process of making a move. They intend to move the piece, but every once in a while they might have second thoughts at the moment they touch it, and if they said j'adoube, they're covered. Or if they want to try some gamesmanship stuff where they say j'adoube (as always) then touch a piece to see how the opponent reacts before deciding whether to make the move or not.
I'm guessing the referee would put a stop to this pretty quickly, but was wondering if there was any rule against j'adoube abuse.
