I'll pitch in another $13!

If the rematch can't secure sponsorship, will they just set up a Carlsen–Aronian match, sort of like Kasparov–Kramnik 2000 all over again?

Trying to figure out why this thread got bumped before I clicked on it... I did not come up with that as a potential answer. LOLFIDE.

Was watching a Chess.com stream and they made the point that it's not uncommon for a championship match loser to clean up in his next tournament , since he will likely have some killer unused prep. Food for thought. A reason to not get TOO excited about an Anand resurgence, which by the way is leading to a match that received no bids :/

If you're going to put out a press statement in reply (already a bad idea), at least have the good sense to check the spelling.

Yes. I started paying attention to chess last year, and I kept hearing about how bad FIDE was, but I never saw it. I saw a good world championship, and a good candidates tournament (2014), and I never understood what the problem was. Obviously the lack of a bid for the world championship is a big problem, but this press release is absurd. Such petty nonsense and unprofessional.

The grammar is pretty atrocious too. The first time I read it I thought they were complaining that journalists were creating the false impression that FIDE is a successful organization .

Better late, and in the shadow of comical theatrics, than never.

The question is whether Kasparov will cancel this match if he's elected. In the Norway Chess interview, he said that there's not enough sponsorship to make the match a really big event, like he wanted, if it's held this early.
