Yea very enjoyable games today, I really did think Ivanchuk was going to fall apart in time trouble. Maybe he'll go on a winning streak now, anything is possible with good ole Chucky

wlrs, any thoughts on e6 in the Svidler game? That move is beyond my understanding.

I obviously meant this happening in other tournament's, such as Corus for example. But no one has a comment on the Gelfand issue? I mean it's one thing to say the guy is weaker than the rest of the field, but the tone here is more like he is some sort of clown who has been allowed to compete with the big boys. Guy is a world class player last time I checked.

There's what, one poster insulting Gelfand? It's obvious he's one of the weakest players in the field and everyone is going to gun for him. You being randomly misogynistic is even more annoying than random Gelfand hate.

Games looked pretty interesting today on first glance; looking forward to going through them in more detail/with commentary. Standings would have been amazing if Aronian/Carlsen had lost and Svidler had won.

I expected to come on here and see people complaining about Svidler and Gelfand agreeing to a draw in their position. Did they explain in the aftermath that they both thought they were losing or really saw a drawn endgame in that position?

I got home super late, and don't have the energy to do a full odds update, but I can say that Carlsen is around 70% and Aronian around 22% after today's games. Kramnik was 3.something%, Radjabov 1.9%, Svidler 1.7%? If I remember right?

Much more interesting would have been the odds after today's games had Svidler, Ivanchuk, and Kramnik all converted the winning positions they each held at various points in the day.

Everybody playing 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 and only now d5. I guess they are really afraid of the exchange variation. I am not. I have my own little secret system against it.

Can anyone please tell me why I cannot find a single website that is offering online betting on the result of the tournament? I have tried all the big sites and cannot find odds on a single one. If anyone can help me out that would be great.

Thanks, John

And of course Magnus beats Svidler. Is there any type of position Magnus doesn't play well? He's incredible.

Is Carlsen or Aronian winning over 99% after this round? Gotta be getting close soon.

Seems like Svidler was crazy passive in that game. You can't let black get the first central pawn break on move 17.

Sveedler beat himself.

time seems to be a recurring problem in this tourney. you guys think 2 hours + 1 hour at 40 moves is insufficient?

No increment sometimes plays a role as well (not that this should matter in theory). Not that I'd mind, but do the players themselves favor longer games?

Everyone asking about commentary should at least watch the press conferences, which are great.

Looks like it's a race between Aronian and Carlsen to the finish, now. Almost time to ask BJJ to calculate the odds Carlsen breaks 2900 in this tournament...

I actually have it at EXACTLY 99.0% that the winner will be Carlsen or Aronian, at this point.

He has 8 games left to gain 21.4 more points, and he earns just over 3 points for each win, but loses over half a point on a draw. +7 =1 -0 in the last 8 rounds would put him really close to 2900, but I'm not sure he'd get there. Of course he could always just win his last 8 games and pull it off - where's that thread about whether he can top Fischer's famous winning streak?

Not sure if people are not responding because they don't know or if people usually get ignored on this forum, so I will ask again:

Hi johnblack,

did you read the thread? There are links to unibet and marathonbet. The latter is an unknown entity to me but at least unibet is legit.
