I have one question regarding the last round because i didn't follow it in real time: In the strange tiebreak system, Russia seemed to have a big advantage if they would have won their last match (0,5 board points more against Spain should have given them around 8 extra points in the tiebreak and thus the better one compared to Ukraine) and they were a decent favourite to win that match. So did the Ukraine make 4 draws only after Svidler lost or did they rely on Russia not winning earlier?
According to the chessbase site Ukraine made two early draws. Once Svidler lost his game, Russia couldn't win their match and Ukraine quickly agreed to draws in the remaining games against Isreal.
