I'm not sure the program I'm using has that option, but it might. If it does, I'll make the change.

The match is now listed as -/+, rather than 0-1, but in the standings and score tables the change doesn't show up, since Nezh still earns one point for that result, while you still earn zero, and that's what it displays. Behind the scenes it is correct though, I promise

The time limit for this round is long since expired, and Nezh and Nikitheone have not yet played. Nezh has (properly) been in contact with me about it, and Niki has not, so by all rights Nezh should win by forfeit. HOWEVER, I feel it's extremely unfair to YouKnowWho and Hackdeath to force them to play two matches each against Niki, while Nezh gets off with two forfeit wins. It taints the tourney, for me.

Therefore, we will advance now to round 5, but IF Nikitheone plays both his round 5 match, and his match vs. Nezh within the appropriate timespan, the round 4 match will count retroactively, and not be a forfeit.

IF he does NOT complete both matches within the two week span, I will assess a forfeit loss to Nikitheone for round 4, and kick him out of the tourney due to it being his second forfeit. In that case, I would scratch all matches he's already played from the standings, counting only matches between the other three players. The standings would thus be Nezh - 2; Hackdeath 1.5; YouKnowWho - 0.5; with only two matches remaining. Nezh vs. Hackdeath in round 5, and Nezh vs. YouKnowWho in round 6.

Hopefully it won't come to that, but time will tell. Round 5 officially begins now, and will end Saturday, August 21st (or when all three matches are completed). I'll post the updated pairings and standings tomorrow, and send out the necessary PMs then, but in the meantime, you should all already know the schedule, so go ahead and start PMing opponents and getting matches underway

Good luck!

Okay, here's where we stand. Nezh is the official winner of this touranment, and his new undertitle reflects it. Congratulations!

As the 2+2 Chess Champion, Nezh will be expected to defend his title in a MATCH next year, probably starting sometime between late spring and early fall. That match will be played against the winner of a Candidate's Tourney, which will begin sometime in the winter of 2011. The Candidate's Tourney will be invitation only. Invitations will be extended to anyone who wins a 2+2 Open Tournament between now and then (including Tourney IV which is almost over, and including future tournaments which I will begin running soon, I promise. Registration for Tourney V will begin later today.) Invitations may also be extended to forum notables, who haven't participated in the open tourneys but who's chess prowess and community value is unquestionable enough that they deserve a shot at the title (*cough cough Curtains*). The field will be rounded out by the highest rated players on the 2p2 Ratings List, which I will update later today as well.

And how does all that impact this tourney? Well, I would like to see us finish this, so in the interest of inspiring the players other than Nezh, I am also offering an automatic invitation to that Candidate's Tourney to whomever finishes SECOND in this Championship. There is no longer a specific time limit, or round order, in place. Any unplayed match can be played at any time. I see no reason though, why we shouldn't be able to get all the remaining matches played within a week or two and bring things to a true conclusion here.

The three matches left to be played are:
Nikitheone v YouKnowWho (rd5)
Nezh v YouKnowWho (rd6)
Nikitheone v Hackdeath (rd6)

Play them at your leisure, but the sooner the better, please. Thank you!
