Man, so far the other team looks pretty darn weak. I noticed I was on board 3 right now and was a bit worried we do not have our "A" team signed up yet but looks like it possibly might not matter.

They've only won 18% of their matches. Meanwhile, we're rolling over the G(r)eeks.

Yeah, I'm not going to sign up if they don't get anyone stronger.

Oh man, maybe I should unjoin. Does 2p2 always just soulcrush the opposition?

Yeah these seem like play money level dudes and dudettes, they're gonna go bankrupt faster than the greeks :/ I wish one could specify a rating average when sending out challenges

But then again - if anyone has been hesitating to join team matches because "i suck too much" or something else silly, now's the perfect time to sign up.

For Honey Badgers they don't seem very fierce.

Yea I'm gonna cancel this one and try to find a stronger opponent. Challenged Chess School and accepted an open challenge from Active Tournament Players. Both huge groups so everyone sign up

E00 Indian Defense Villian goes off the reservation early. During the ensuing end game, I neglected the Tarrasch Rule
on move 23 and lost a tempo. Villian immediately returned the favor. The passed rook pawn made the difference after villian wandered over to the Queenside and allowed me to penerate the Kingside. This is a prosaic game except for getting trolled here. Computer analysis says I committed 2 errors and 2 inaccuracies. (moves 38, 44, 32, 34)

Is that Judit in your spoiler, Rei?

Chess School declined in fear so I challenged our old buddies Philippines' Finest. Also it seems like the opponents in our open match are out for revenge, a few more strong players are needed: http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match?id=564822

edit: PFCC already accepted, that match is at http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match?id=566190

Looks like I'm too late to enter, haven't had internet set up at the new house yet.

Good luck though.

Looks like I already won a game? Anyone else get confused by the resignation system on chess.com turn based games? It always seems to me that the game basically disappears and the only way to know what happened is to go into my archive, open up the game, and see the (not very easy to see) message in the upper right that I won on resignation.

Anyway, here is the game: http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=117083042#

Honestly, I feel I botched the opening. Everything is relatively standard until:

11. Ne5. I missed the response my opponent went with which was a pretty obvious/normal reasponse: 11...Ne5 12. dxe5 Nd7. He didn't continue with what I was concerned about which was 13. f4 Nc5!. I was planning to respond Nf3 and let him take my light squared bishop off of the board, but was not happy about it at all.

Instead, 13...f5 I think must be some sort of mistake due to e6 being weak and ceding the e5 square to me (no option of f6 at any point).

14...Nxf6 also seems like some sort of mistake, I assumed the entire point was Bxf6, trading off my bishop. I can't find a clear problem with this move but seemed kind of wonky. I actually had a hard time figuring out what to do but Be5 seemed fine to take full control of e5 again and support it with Nf3. Other types of plans didn't seem great and I run into issue if I try to lead with 15. Nf3 b/c my f4 pawn is undefended.

16...Ng4 just seems bad due to 17. Bxh7+, which is a common theme (and one of the myriad of reasons I was frustrated he could have played Nc5 earlier taking care of that bishop). I guess other than that it's a very annoying move due to a check along the a7-g1 diagonal followed up with Nf2+. But, again, that's not very helpful if it allows a counter tactic.

I'm quite surprised he resigned in the position the game was left in. I *think* my attack of Qh5 is too powerful due to opening up the f-file and his c8 bishop gumming up things. But, it seemed there were some defensive tries available. E.g. 19...Bxe5 20. fxe5 (I need to open up the file and can't let him save his bishop in a scenario of 20. Qh5, Bd4+ and then Rf6 or something) Qxf2 (defending h7 which is where I'd like to mate) 21. Rxf8+ Kxf8 22. Rf1+ Kd7 23. Qh4 (or Qf4 maybe?) or 22...Kg8 23. Qf4 and I don't think Black can defend f7 and f8. But that is quite a few more moves down the line and getting there isn't completely clear to me to begin with. And I'm not positive the end position is immediately winning for White or if Black has something more he can do to defend.

32.Re2 Qg3 is a nice touch in the second one (even though you could be boring and take on e1 first)
