WSOB launches $480,000 guaranteed finale

WSOB CHAMPIONSHIP 2009/10: new 'Shootout' details announced
World Series of Backgammon last week announced its new 64 draw season finale (the 'Shootout') worth a guaranteed $480,000 in prize money, the second largest prize pool in the history of the game.
The shootout rewards the best performing players from this year's tour and allows up to 41 additional buy-ins: the 4 top performing players across three tour events held earlier this year in Cannes, Prague and London (the WSOB Race) who each win $15,000 value seats and 3 super satellite winners who each won seats on the final sunday of each tour event also win $15,000 value seats.

This season's shootout will be held at the sumptuous Adam Street Club in central London on February 6th and 7th 2010.
The buy-in to the round of 64 is $7,500 and the round of 32 is $15,000
The event will be high profile and webcast worldwide with expert commentary and with a one hour show being produced for Eurosport, Poker Channel and ESPN.
Last season's shootout, held at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes, paid out €160,000; €100,000 to winner Frederic Andrieu, €40,000 to Bob Koca and €10,000 to losing semi finalists; including €80,000 added money and has aired in 60 countries so far.
We are working with local backgammon clubs to try and get satellites going and give a chance for all players to get the the big final. Masayuki Mochizuki's Japanese club and Battersea Backgammon Club are both running satellites for $7,500 (+ 600 reg).
If you're interested in running a satellite on an official basis, please get in touch (email me at ab@worldseriesofbackgammon.com). Clubs sending players will be profiled in the webcast presentation and we will publish a list of all the clubs participating as well as the provisional list of players buying in or who have won satellites on the WSOB website and WSOB on Facebook.
