Where should I play? Where should I play?

I've been playing (very casually) on play65 for awhile now; I like it for the high traffic volume, but the rake is starting to get annoying. I want to start moving up in stakes, but I know I can't beat the rake at a higher level of competition. Any suggestions on where to go?

Ladbrokes advertises the lowest rake out there; anyone played there before? Is it any good? Anyone know if the traffic volume is sufficent for finding games easily?

I think the consensus on this forum has been that it is impossible to make any serious money playing online backgammon for a few reasons:

1) Ridiculous rake
2) Sites keep track of ratings, so if you're too good, no one will want to play one
3) Cheating using programs in the background to help you with decisions
4) Bots

I used to play on PartyGammon but can't play there now b/c I'm from the US.

Serious money? Well I don't know if you consider $0.50/pt "serious" or not, but I generally pwn those stakes on play65-- I started with a $20 deposit like a year ago and I'm almost worth $90 now, so I'm telling you it's definitely possible to make your living playing online BG. I might go full-time pro in a couple months.

So really, is no one out there playing real-money games online? If you do, I'd love to know where you play and what you think of the site...

No,
I don't consider .50/point serious.
Let's say a pro with minimal expenses needs to earn at least 50K per year and works 250 days in a year.

So, this player would need to earn, on average, about $200/day.
So, it looks like this hypothetical player would need to play for at least $5 a point, maybe $10.

Just my uninformed opinion, I've never seriously looked in to this.

If you can find a better site, by all means, try to move up. Maybe you can even find a rakeback deal.

Yeah ok i was kidding about 50c being serious... I play pretty casually as far as the gambling is concerned, but play fun games vs friends fairly often.

Ladbrokes has the best rake I've found online so far, but looks like the traffic volumes are pretty low.

Anyone have any stories to share about online sites they've played on?
