The software is decent. I'm learning backgammon. It's a shame there's not much people on there. It's hard to get someone to play with.

I've found backgammon NJ to be pretty good, but it's only on mobile, I'm not sure if you can play it on the PC. I've only tried 3 point matches, not cash games, and after an initial period where I couldn't seem to get a game, now I seldom wait more than a minute. The interface is clean and it runs well.

I have been happy with Safe Harbor Games. The environment is friendly and social, and the interface is good enough. There are not very many really strong players, but enough decent intermediates to suit me. No money play available, but I don't want that anyway.

The weird thing is that they support nonrandom dice. Rooms marked with yellow dice are correctly random; rooms marked with red dice roll not enough doubles. I advise to play in yellow rooms only (usually only "the cove" has enough players anyway).

Backgammon Live on Facebook - all fun money games, never have to wait to play, and a lot of very good players, many from the middle east.

Bgroom.com - Has practice and real money modes. Good players. Offers a variety of game play - tournament, match, money (real or fun).
