On what sites do you play backgammon? On what sites do you play backgammon?

This thread is a result of problems players have had in trying to agree on sites on which to play matches during the first 2+2 backgammon forum tourney.

As I said in the forum tourney thread, I've never had a problem with FIBS, and I've used multiple FIBS clients. TMG and PartyGammon don't have mac clients. Yahoo, so far as I know, is browser-based.

So, on which site(s) do you play? Why? Is it real money only or do they have play money? Do they have tournies? Do they save matches in progress? Is it browser-based or do you need to download a client? If client-based, do they support both mac and PC? Etc...

I recently downloaded the Play65 client (www.play65.com). It offers both play money and real money games.

P.S. I couldn't make it for the 2+2 tourney since I'm too busy (new dad two weeks ago!), but I keep looking for all the developments and the interesting positions posted from the tourney.

I usually play at http://www.safeharborgames.net/ which is a client-based play only site. It is basically a clone of the old msn gaming zone. They allow for game logs to be automatically stored which can be imported into GNU or Snowie.

They have public tourneys that run every half hour to an hour or so. i will email them to see if holding a private tourney would be possible.

As far as I can tell they do not support Macs but I will ask as part of my email regarding private tourneys.

I play on play65 (just $0.50 or $1.00 points primairly, but sometimes I'll play $1.50 points when I'm feeling like a real high roller), but have recently started on ladbrokes due to the lower rake. Traffic is pretty poor there though.

I've experimented with Yahoo (terrible!), Party, play65, and Ladbrokes, and I find play65 to be the best play money site, by far. There are hundreds of rooms that are always full, and you can find players at all levels. They also have the least annoying interface in my opinion-- no unnecessary dice animations, etc so the play is fairly quick.

The principle downside of play65 is you can only download the match history if it's a real money game. Also, the rake is terrible, even by backgammon standards.

Does anyone know if Party lets you download match history yet? I know they didn't at first...

Is there a site that allows U.S. players to play for real money?

Don't really know what you mean by match history, if it's game scores, yes you have access to them.
I played a lot of $0.5/4 and $1/8 at PG over the last weeks, but if you create your own game you have long waits and the regs have stopped to give me action (not because i'm great, but they are waiting for fish, which is reasonable considering the awful rake).

Play at Fibs for fun and at Ladbrokes (because of the low rake) for small stakes.

If your opponent is playing ridiculously slowly even on the most obvious moves he's probably cheating.
