Can anyone explain this blunder and what I am missing?

After my move, I have 11 rolls to win the game. 6/3, 5/3, 4/3, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22.

After the "correct move" I can only count 9 rolls. 6/2, 5/2, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22.

19 - 17, but yeah, it's always better (or the same) for the two checkers to be 3 apart from one another than 1 or 5 apart. And it's always better (or the same) for the checkers to be 2 apart from one another than 4 apart or on the same point.
