In simple terms you have to beat Ziigmund in PLO, GM Sune Berg Hansen in chess and me in backgammon. You wager $10,000 and get $100,000 should you beat us all. All matches are played live in Riga in October as a side event to Betsafes 'Rigged in Riga' tournament. Airfare and hotel is included in the $10.000 entry fee.

Who might be candidates for such a challenge?

Answer: The dumbest human being on earth.

This bet is so insulting to anyone who knows chess, it`s not even funny anymore. Seriously though: Good luck finding anyone ret***ded enough to take that bet except for a Chess Grandmaster, who might not be accepted ("The challenger will be chosen at Coinflip and Betsafe's discretion" LOL).

I`d offer the same bet for a $1 Million payout if I knew Ziig and the other two personally, especially since I`d be allowed to "choose at my discretion", lol, I`d even be honest and just write: "Anyone who can play chess wont be accepted"...
If I played at Betfair, I`d cash out and never go back after reading this ****. I consider this trying to scam people out of 10k.

It's Betsafe not Betfair - although neither name is particualrly well suited to this ridiculous 'challenge'.

Probably an overreaction. Just because they allow themselves the right to turn down challengers, doesn't mean that they're actually gonna do it. It would be a pretty bad business decision on Betsafe's part to turn someone down, just because he might have a shot over what is probably no more than 1-2K in equity.

Maybe chess grandmaster Alexandre Lesiège can take a shot at that challenge.

What about the odds of some top chessplayer vs. this guy? Don't Kramnik, Carlsen, Topalov - or some other close to 2800ELO players have a big edge in chess?

If "yes" - wouldn't this be a good bet for all of them, because it wont be that hard to get a close to 45% winrate at the other games (didnt had a close look at the rules though).

By the way, i have a gin rummy software. Are there good books about this game?

To make the bet fair to a much wider range of players... make the chess GM play blind.

this is a rape.
i think almost everyone could take Hall and Gus challenge without any problem, but the chess part is obv a nonsense.

Any chess GM can play one game of blindfold chess at a level very close to their normal rating. Make him play 6-8 games simultaneously blindfolded and his level will drop, but he'll still be a master-strength player.
