Too many good things! Too many good things!

Hi!

Sometimes your roll is an amazing gift! Like this one.. but there are so many possibilities here! Easy to get rewarded with a 'Blunder!' feedback which hurt!

Escape the back checkers as they need 4's to get past the prime, Hit on the 9, Point and hit on the 4, Cover the 2, Getting two on the bar.. options overload! :-)

What to do?

Best regards,
TP

don't really see an alternative to 8/4 (2) and 6/2 though, 13/9 for the 4th one is probably best

I think I would agree with this. I thought about playing 22/18 to release the back anchor (since you don't need to hold it for anything). You've only got one way to get out of there, and so I would be worried about getting stuck and having to crash your board.

But I think the downside of running now is that there are just too many immediate return shots. It's very dangerous. And with those three outfield checkers you probably have a reasonable chance of rolling a 4 before badness happens to you.

I like 22-14, 6-2, 13-9. You escape a back checker and score a double hit. You have no disasters this turn, and your biggest liabilities -- getting primed or hit are greatly reduced.

If you leave both checkers on the 22, you might try 8-4x2, 6-2, 13-9. That leaves you 19 pips to bring in your checkers if you can't get a 5, or about 2.5 rolls. There are too many ways to have things go to crap.

I'm afraid to put it in now.

Edit: my play is a blunder

I spent forever debating back and forth on what to do here as I really didn't want to get it wrong and it is so easy to play doubles quickly and end up with a blunder. Especially if there are many good things you can achieve as in this position.

I landed on the conclusion that it is important to get those back checkers out in addition to putting a checker on the bar and improving the board. The hit on the 9 and putting two checkers on the bar isn't far off though.
