I am constantly making errors on the second move. Is there a list of these that I can study?

There have been extensive rollouts done over the last severl years of the best replies to various opening moves. I haven't seen a printed list online, but if you set up an opening position in XG and then enter a 2nd roll, XG will show you the result of any known rollout, marked with a small 'book' symbol.

Timothy Chow has condensed the rollouts at BgOnline down to a table that fits on one or two pages.

Tim has published several versions of his chart. Here is the PDF that uses traditional notation:
http://math.mit.edu/~tchow/2ndmovetable.pdf
The one I like uses Nactation:

Murat Akcan produced these charts:

The one that I think is the best organized was made by Ian Shaw. It uses Nactation, and groups plays into familes rather than ordering them by roll:

Taking the lead from Ian, Will Womak produced a similar chart that presents the data from BgOnline on one side and includes a handful of useful racing and match equity formulas on the other. This is the version of Tim's PDF that I referred to above.

Here are direct links to the two versions of Will's card. The second is the one I use most often.

You can purchase Ed Rosenblum's set of 6 laminated pages titled, "Experts’ Guide to Winning Backgammon." It includes openings, replies, and some other goodies. See the description at Backgammon Galore!:
http://www.bkgm.com/books/Rosenblum-ExpertsGuide.html
You can buy it at the USBGF for $20 (US):

You can also buy it at Carol Joy Coles Backgammon a La Carte for the same price:

Finally, my RolloutSummary spreadsheet (which uses Nactation) contains a special page dedicated to 2nd roll positions for money and at many match scores. Send me a PM with your email address, and I will add you to my distribution list. It includes the rollouts that a team which included yours truly made for the XG Opening Book. They are are considered to be the most accurate source of 2nd-roll information to date. Actually, you don't need my spreadsheet, because, as Bill pointed out, if you just set up a position in XG, and get an eval, it will present the results of our rollouts.

Hope this helps.

Mike
