Question about ace-point game situation Question about ace-point game situation

The situation is i ace-point game with 2 checkers on first point under 6 prime. Opponents only chance to win is to get a very good timing so he gives me all other blots to hit.

In book i found what if you in ace-point game hit all the blots you can for extra gammon chances, but here is the situation that gammon doesnt matter the only thing matters to maximize winning chances.

I want to ask how many blots i shoud hit more ? 1 or 2 or maybe best chances is to leave him with 2 checkers on first point not letting to improve his timing ?

Thank you for answer

Yeah, if gammons don't count I'll generally scoop up 1 or 2 more blots, and leave the rest alone. That way his army is split up enough that I'll maximize my chance of scrambling home if I do get hit.

This can change based on the exact position, of course.

I would just let him crunch if gammons don't matter (DMP or something like that), and not eat the blots. If he crunches, he can never fix it. But if you keep those checkers in play, strange things can happen.

Well, that's why it depends.

If he's going to crunch anyway, or he has blots strung out in his home board in a desperation move, then getting one or two more checkers trapped reduces his winning chances to close to zero, while he'll still have 5% or whatever in a crunched Ace-point game with only two checkers back.

But if he has some chance to keep his timing if you hit, I agree that you should leave the blots alone and just let him crunch.

And if he usually isn't going to crunch in either case, then hit a couple more to split up his army.

I guess my reading comprehension is bad because I don't know exactly what OP is asking.

Based on the situation OP described (ace-point game with 2 checkers back for his opponent, gammons don't count), he's simply asking how many more blots should he scoop, 0, 1, 2 or more?
