If it's not double/drop it's driving me crazy too.

Let's start by thinking about what we would do in a money game with the cube in the middle.

The double looks clear, since White is well ahead in the race with 22 numbers to make a 5-prime. Black has both an anchor and a lot of points, so he's doing well in the almost 40% of the time when White doesn't make a 5-prime. If White does make the prime, Black has 1s to get to the edge, 6s to jump, and lots of other rolls to keep making his board. White has to get four men around the board, and a lot can go wrong. So taking looks fine.

Now let's look at 8-3 to 13. If Black is taking for money, then I'm not real eager to be doubling with a big lead. Too much play left and not enough crushing threats. I wait with the cube and scoop if White sends it over.

Many thanks for this analyse. Well...I passed it. XG gives me 30% wins.
I thought I had about 20%. I was too pessimistic. On the other hand there are about 30% gammons losses. Well, with an early recube I can neutralize them, but gammons are aslo very effective for white or not, putting him straight into crawford? Do you have other rules of thumb for those cubeactions with lopsided scores, like the one you mentiones (if it's a money double and take, then ATS its maybe ND/T))
thanks in advance
