The live stream chat was really embarrassing to watch -- lots of people shitting on Galen for being new to the game, saying he shouldn't be playing in the tournament, etc. He played well, especially for being a relatively new player, and is obviously much more successful at poker than those people will ever be at backgammon. Not going to attract new people to the game that way.

for sure - but backgammon has an aging and stuck-up player base. i know perhaps two players my age.

i’m sure if someone took up the mantle of being a young backgammon content creator it would take off, but i don’t have the time
