I'm sad to have to report that Paul Magriel passed away yesterday in Las Vegas, age 71. He was found dead in his apartment by his assistant who was helping him work on a new book. No other details are immediately available.

Paul Magriel's "Backgammon" was the first book I ever read on Backgammon. It inspired me and I owe so much to him for writing that book.

Very sad to hear this....I watched him play in some WPT events, very good player and was also very entertaining. You don’t see that very much these days.
