I've had backgammon NJ for a while, and only recently discovered the online aspect of it, which I'm loving. As I said in another thread, it's really opening my eyes to how people play and giving me good experience.

However, it often battles to find a game. Are there other, busier servers out there that I can play on a device?

Of course.

App store---> backgammon 64 and you will be connected with FIBS and there you will find tons of game.

A little minus: the backgammon board is for me really ugly, but you can play very easy tons of games.

by Backgammon 64 I suspect the poster above meant Backgammon Online 3:

Are you playing real-time or turn-based online matches in BGNJ? Not too many play turn-based, but there are 600-700 people who play real-time matches on a daily basis. We don't play online as much, but when we have, it usually takes a few minutes or less to find an auto-match. It also depends on your settings. For example, if you have "long matches only" on, it could take longer, or if your online stats don't meet the expectations of other players, they might decline matches against you. But if you want to play more real-time online matches, the main thing to make sure of is that you see the "enabling auto-match" message pop up each time you run the app. That way, you'll know it's searching for you. If you don't see that message when you run the app, then it isn't searching for some reason. Your internet connection could be down, or there could be some problem with Game Center. Sometimes, your device can get into a state (iOS bug) where it won't connect to Game Center reliably. When that happens, doing a hard reset on your device usually resolves it.

We hope this helps!

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll look into them.

I'm playing real time with standard settings, but am in Zimbabwe, so I think the time difference may be working against me.

It's picking up at the moment, perhaps I was just unlucky when I started. It is very different indeed than just playing good ol' XG!

Heaps of fun.

I'll be sure to pass on your best wishes to bob, may he live forever.
