I second Grid Gammon. It is a great place to play, and there are some really good players if you can get your ranking up high enough to warrant their time. Even as a lower ranked player it is not uncommon to have your invitation accepted by higher ranks.

There is an option to play cash games, but I am not sure how the payment happens, and I would imagine you would have to know the guy offline to receive or make payment, but I may be wrong.

As far as I know, simply posting here asking for a referral will get you one. It can take a little time for the admins to respond and set things up, but once you are in, you are good to go. I would refer you, but I have no idea how to do that.

I'm a later comer to the thread. I wanted to weigh in.

Backgammon is one of my greatest passions. I admire this game so much, I wanted to find a place where I could trust the dice were being fair. Being a software developer by profession, I decided the best way was to create an online backgammon site of my own. So I did. I created www.SimplyBG.com

The single most important feature of SimplyBG is the dice integrity. I can assure you the dice at SimplyBG are the extremely trust worthy. For complete transparency of dice rolls, I created a dice-integrity page: https://www.simplybg.com/diceintegrity.html

So, maybe some sites are have rigged dice, SimplyBG does not. All are welcome to come try it and let me know your thoughts.

That is because you can see the skill the other person has developed through practice. It's the same with backgammon. It is a game of skill and experience. You probably can't see it because of the luck factor.

As you become better you will win more and other people will be saying that you're the lucky player. A good starting place is right here. Just do a search for 'Problem of the Week' by Robertie. Really own the knowledge in these lessons and you'll be on the way being a skilful player.

And if you believe that noise, I have a bridge down the street to sell you. Only been flooded out twice in 100yrs.

When you see 17-1 and 8-1 miracles rolling five or six times in 10 rolls and
at critical times, you have cooked die rolls. Claiming too many doubles is smoke screen. Server admins claim their software is tested and certified!
Yeah, and I'm the czar of all the Russias.

If I'm playing a golf match against a two handi and I'm a ten, I expect to get beat. But not if the golfer has a magic wand that steers the ball to the cup, then the outcome destined.

Don't get me wrong. I get just as many miracles as the other guy. As I've said before on these threads, I might have been born at night, but not last night. Live boards are the only way to test yourself against quality players.
Unless, of course, you spot a rat using dice with a lead dollop within.

Moral of this story, if you play backgammon online anywhere, you've been
sniffing too many paint fumes.

Playgem, bgmasters, play65 and derivatives were all made by ex-ussr programmers with great sense of humor from Israel. Should I continue? Tried a dozen of times from different countries’ ips and accounts. All the same.
Silliest rigging I ever saw. Some billionaires solely to inspire rookies (if he can, sure I can too).

Great that you claim that you use random.org. Once upon a time I asked Jimmy Hu - author of Backgammon NJ to do the same, but he refused. When I took rolls from random.org (setting nj to manual rolls) my wins ratio nearly tripled in a long run... Nj imho has the best interface after TrueMoneyGames (R.I.P.), the only reason why I play there...

...Once upon a time I planned to create site with honest dice too, planning to pre-pack rolls for future matches to encrypted .rar archive sent to players before match and sending archive password to both players after the end of the match. However, there may be suspicion that I send password to one of the players before match LOL... If someone smarter than me can circumvent this situation, the schizoid rigged problem would be gone forever.

Like I said, I created an entire unbiased play venue at SimplyBG.com and I am committed to gaining the trust from all players, skeptics, conspiracy theorists or other. I am open to all feedback and ideas on how to gain that trust.

I have specifications designed to implement a feature where both opponents have endorsed rolls.

I am probably the only one experiencing this value as I know SimplyBG.com is completely random. How do I share this with you all?

I play Adikus and the algorithms on that game are also fixed for their bots or people with extremely high points. I play many games that are basically the same. I might start out real good but at the drop of a hat I’m doomed. My opponents get the perfect rolls, multiple doubles, hit me and then I sit on the bar for multiple rolls. I just like the set up so keep playing. It is a shame for all that sites do this to players. No fun for anyone.

Why do you keep playing there if "It's no fun for anyone" ?

Well there is another explanation than rigged dice. I suspect people with high points (I assume that's rating) might be not just lucky, maybe the know where to put the checkers.....

Imagine that… when you put yourself in positions where most of your rolls are helpful, you get a lot of good rolls. Who would have imagined that!!

Reminds me of a famous Gary Player quote after he holed a bunker shot and a spectator said "gee that was a lucky shot".

Gary Player replied "yes, and the more I practice the luckier I get"
