Hi all,

I’m recently retired and want to become a better backgammon player. I’ve played a lot of games against the computers and read a lot of internet information. Now, I’d like to find something more concrete to read. For example, I’ve looked for matches and games to study, but can only find matches on YouTube which is fine but limiting. Is there a text based archive of games that include rolls, positions and cube value?

I’m also interested in the rating systems of popular websites. The number of books out there is dizzying. I can’t seem to find algorithms that describe a match rating, error rating or ranking systems. Does anyone know a book that contains the technical details?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some book recommendations here:

https://nebackgammon.org/index.php/r...es/nebc-books/

Elo rating system which FIBS and GridGammon uses, though I think GridGammon modifies it a bit for 1 and 2 point matches at least:

Rating calculator for various sites:

Elo to error rate/PR discussion:

Hi David, Reading the right books is (more or less), essential, imho what you read next depends on your current level of play and on what you have read so far?
