Lord of the Board is rigged

I am a professional backgammon player who enjoys the game and has been playing for more than four decades. In my experience, the absolute worst-rigged game online is Lord of the Board. I've played this sufficiently to see that the algorithms are set to suck as much money out of participants as possible. Indeed, I'm convinced that opponents without a face and some silly number are really bots designed to drain real people's wallets.
Sadly, because the company that operates this is not American, they cannot be investigated, though I have filed a formal complaint with the Israeli government since that seems to be the government that would have jurisdiction, in the faint hope some action would be taken against these unscrupulous operators. But of course, I doubt my complaint will be taken seriously.
Doubly sad is the fact that even this post will have no effect, though I can tell anyone who reads this, I am quitting this site. Vegas is a better bet.

Whatever gave you the idea that playing online for money was a good idea in the first place?

I am not a pro player but i wanted to share my experience of this app. I recently downloaded it a few weeks ago and was frustrated at first - seems to focus on 1pt games and no Crawford rule during multiple pt match and I have suffered the usual backgammon nightmare of watching my opponent roll 5 to 6 doubles during bear off etc. but all in all I canít say Iíve noticed it to be rigged - Iíve played 575 games with a win ratio 60% and 2.5mil coins- the 3 or 4 Ďspecial dealí ads are annoying tho and it looks like you lose 13% of your winnings to LOTB which is strange as itís fake cash so I can only assume itís to push you towards buying more coins, as much as I dislike the pushing, developers did make the game to make a profit like most apps out there so I canít begrudge them. They do give you FREE coins every 4 hours so you donít actually have to buy any coins to play- just my thoughts

Why not buy eXtreme Gammon for your desktop or laptop and play that instead? You'll be able to practice against a better opponent and you won't have to waste time playing an app that doesn't even know all the rules.

I did a few years ago but difficult being tied to the computer whereas the convenience of being able to play on my phone is very appealing when I just want to squeeze in a quick game or 2. I do also have XG mobile backgammon which is good for practicing vs a bot and seems to have a decent tutor mode but there is no online games against other players

Wish I'd seen this post earlier. I couldn't agree more. BG online on "any" site is designed to keep players coming back time and again. If you can accomplish this, then your online market plan is on the move. If a novice or amateur player matches with experts and world class players, he'll probably not return. So the Random Die Generators are cooked, every one of them.
(Sorry Bill Robertie, I love your books, but I don't agree with you)

I'm squarely with Paulaz. I've been playing BG, mostly on live boards, since I was old enough to roll bones and turn a cube, back in the Stone Age before they had bullets.. I now play mostly bars and pubs.

Online BG is a scam to sell Ad spots on BG servers, or any gaming server. I play the odds. I know to make a 4:1 or 5:1 move over a 17:1 shot. Doubles are not the culprit; one in six change to double up. It's the 17:1 and 8:1 shots that come way more often than 5 or 9 times in a hundred? End game miracles are the most egregious. When a 5/6 closed board with an open blot over the bar enters and hits nearly every game I play, tells me I'm looking at cooked die generators. I don't need stats, algorithms, records etc. to tell me that these rolls are miracles. BG is not a game of miracles, it's a game of "stiff" rolls. For this reason more than one court decision has rejected the claim that BG is a game of luck and therefore would make it illegal to gamble it online. Pfffft. BG is skill.

If you want to keep everyone coming back to your site, then you need to insure the novice can prevail against accomplished Vet players. You need to show him he can win. It's why folks swarm the slots in a casino.
Servers punish you for making moves they consider mistakes and reward you for making a brilliant move according to the programming of the software driving the random generator. Site admin swears on their mothers that the software is certified to run with neutral parity. Hogwash. A program can be cooked to do whatever you want.

Next time you play five games and 3-5 of those games show die rolls turning defeat into victory with a blink, just do the math. If we were to see the outcomes on the live boards at the pubs I play in, you'd be tossed out into the alley where your bogus dice belong.

eXtreme Gammon, F.I.B.S. Gammon Village, BGroom, take your pick. Nah. Same, same. Why should I believe constant one shot 17:1 enter and hit rolls are a normal part of the game. My 60 yrs playing live boards tell me it's bogus. No calculator or math whiz is going to change me up. Contrary to popular opinion, pigs really can't fly.

Indeed.... why should one believe that something that happens 6% of the time is a normal part of the game? It should never happen.

I am not sure it is possible to come to this conclusion about "every one of them" logically.

As a counterexample, after my 3900 games on backgammon ace, all downloaded to XG and analyzed, my luck factor is -0.0008. This is insignificant deviation from average 0, so the random dice generator at least on backgammon ace might not be cooked.

If you're thinking of online sites, the answer is that you probably shouldn't do that.
