Ok. I have reluctantly set up a yahoo account. Please specify your timezone wrt. GMT and suggest a time and date so we can get going.

If FIBS is a nightmare then Yahoo is utter commercialized crap. "Please enter validation code", default setting "Auto drop" ?!

Ok, so here is a summary of the matches that have yet to be played in order to get the quarterfinal fixtures:

1st round:

- Swede vs. siegmund
- thesilkworm vs. dsaxton
- (?) DMMx69 vs. HowardZinn (DMMx69 offered to forfeit but since two other 1st round matches still have to be played I propose we don't accept this forfeit untill the other two matches are played.)

2nd round:

- Swede/siegmund vs. popeye
- HowardZinn/DMMx69 vs. ChrisV
- Indariva vs. BermudaDude
- Thesilkworm/dsaxton vs. theriver

Already advanced to the 3rd round (i.e. Quarter Finals):
Hallberg
Chipslinger
Pocket trips
Pineapple888

Maybe we could increase the length of the matches once we get in the later stages (f.e. QF: 17, SF: 19, F: 21)?

dsaxton forfeited since he couldn't get anything to work for the Mac.

I PM'd theriver a few days ago but haven't received a response yet. He hasn't logged into 2p2 in a couple of weeks so not hopeful that this match will happen either.

Hi,

We can play now if you're still about.

ChrisV dug himself out of a fairly large hole to pull off a 16-14 win.
(He was clearly the better player despite my substantial, early lead.)

Good match, Chris. Looking forward to the next tourney.

No response and not expecting one soon. By the way, I like the suggestion of increasing the match length for quarters, semis and the final.

If we are going to do this I need to know what length the 3rd round will be ASAP. Me and ChrisV are looking to play our 3rd round match either tonight or tomorrow before he leaves for a week long holiday.

Honestly I'd rather forget about changing the match length, since it's gonna be enough of a struggle to get this finished, and somebody's likely to screw it up anyway.

No one is making up stories. I sent you suggestions on the 18th :

"Here are my suggestions, California time:

Tuesday 22:00
Thursday 22:00
Friday 22:00"

you didnt reply and I posted that message after which you responded on the 21st

"r u around? just got this..."

I replied to that, again asking you to please make an effort to suggest spots since we where clearly the ones stalling the third round and you gave the brilliant 1-line reply:

"dood relax...is it really my fault u live in the middle of no were? im always around..."

So at least get the dates right before you call someone a liar, you unintelligent t_w_a_t.

It is clearly a waste of time trying to set up a match with you, so I happily withdraw. If this is unfair to my first-round opponent I wish him good luck with setting up a match with you.

Well I'm not playing a drama queen who refuses to play on FIBS, so I withdraw also. Congrats to indariva, who makes the semifinals.

You don't download FIBS. At best, you download a FIBS client.

Any telnet program will work with FIBS, and I prefer this to many of the FIBS GUIs that are out there.

Is it REALLY that big a deal to d/l a BG client? I signed up with TMG to play one of my opponents and when this tour is over (if it isn't already) I will uninstall it and block tmg from my email so i don't get any spam from them. My other opponent signed up at the site I normally play at. I also d/l'd on of the FIBS GUI'S and I'm not sure why anyone would play there on a regular basis. Especially since most other sites now enable match record keeping that can be imported into GNU or snowie for analysis. I also can understand someone who is computer illiterate not being able to figure out how to get onto FIBS.

This is supposed to be for fun guys all it takes is a little compromise on people's parts for everyone to have fun

I'm considering volunteering as TD if we want to make 2+2 tournies a regular -- say quarterly -- thing. In the first couple of rounds it looks like there have been two main problems. The first is that of scheduling, given multiple time zones and people's busy lives. The second is agreeing on where matches should be played.

The scheduling problem can only be dealt with by the players involved. Perhaps the players' time zones can taken into account when assigning the first round draw. This can be looked at later.

The playing site problem needs some research. What sites do you play on, and why? I've never had a problem with FIBS, and I've used multiple FIBS clients. TMG and PartyGammon don't have mac clients. The only other site I've heard of is Yahoo.

I've started a new thread asking about sites people play on in hopes of collecting info. Please contribute.
