Hello,

im new here and relativly new to Backgammon.

Im 37 years old and from Germany.

I play Poker for a couple years and was a winning player over a large sample.
Not a Huge winning player but a winning player.

Mainly SNGs.

But i get sick of it and i stop playing poker.

About 3 Months ago a friend of mine, a very good chess player comes to me with a BackgammonBoard and ask me if i wanna play a little bit with him.

I dont know the exact rules then.

But after a Couple of games i understand the rules and start really enjoy the game.

After a couple times playing with him i get sick of loosing all the time and start to make some research in the net to get better.

Thats about 3 Months ago.

I start to read on Bkgm.com a lot and order Paul Magriels Backgammon German Edition since then.

I really enjoy this book and learn a lot from then and the Articles on Bkgm.

I Download Gnu of course and figure out how to use it, now i use it on a daily basis to analyze my games and reviewing my mistakes.

I am on a German Backgammon forum,too.

But there is not so much new information and not so much traffic like on twoplustwo.

I read a lot on twoplustwo and like the fact that a lot of really good players post and answer here to all the different questions and give us a free insight in there thoughtprocess , so we all can learn from then.

I realy fall in love with this game and hope to get asap so good as possible.

Thanks

I

One of the best things about this site is the insightful writing of backgammon Giant Bill Robertie. He has assembled a set of well over 100 problems under the heading Problem of the Week.

Here's an easy way to find all the problems:
  1. On the main Backgammon Forum screen, click "Search this Forum," and then "Advanced Search" on the drop-down menu.

  2. In the "Search by Keyword" text box, enter the word "Solution"

  3. Click the triangle next to the words "Search Entire Posts." When the drop-down list opens, click "Search Titles Only."

  4. In the "Search by User Name" text box, enter "Robertie"

  5. Click "Search Now" near the bottom.
For your trouble, you get a listing of all of the Problem-of-the-Week Solutions, and nothing else!

That's great, I've looked over a lot from browsing far back, but collecting them like that is a much better idea.

Thanks Mike. (again!)

This post needs more love imho. There is such a wealth of information in these posts.

Many thanks Bill for doing this. These must have taken a significant amount of time to prepare and post. I'm busy printing off each post and making a file.
