So I just enjoyed my most spectacular single-game victory over GNU in the form of a 24 point backgammon with the cube at 8. Regrettably, the cube error I made in the following position has thrown a wet blanket over the whole affair:
White - Pips 118 (+52), Match -7 -5
Black - Pips 66 (-52), Match -5 -7
Black on roll. Cube action?

For a fleeting moment, I actually had the gall to wonder if I might be too good to double! But what opponent would not even consider accepting the cube from this position? So by Woolsey's Law, I redoubled.
That, as it turns out, was an error. And not because I was too good to double, but because I wasn't good enough! GNU graded this a -.091 error even while giving me a 73.6% chance to win.
Never mind that I rolled a 6-4 and snatched GNU's wretched soul. My victory is tainted and I don't understand why.
