How to score in a timed backgammon game when someone runs out of time? How to score in a timed backgammon game when someone runs out of time?

When playing a timed backgammon match to 11, and Player 1 runs out of time on the clock, how does the score get affected?

Does the other person (Player 2) automatically just get the points for a win for the match?

What about if Player 1 has men still in Player 2's home board area? Does Player 2 win and get a backgammon? And what if the doubling cube was part of it?

Anyone?

I had this moment last night, playing to to 11, my opponent had 10 points, I had 9. No doubling cube activated, but he had two men in my home board area and he ran out of time. What's my score?

And would it have been higher, if the doubling cube was activated?

The final score of the match doesn't matter, people just care whether they win or lose. If it did somehow matter, it would affect what plays are correct and you wouldn't be playing backgammon as it's typically played, you'd be playing some unusual variant. So if you needed to report the score, you'd just report it as 11-10, and you would do the same if you won a backgammon in the last game as well.
