I downloaded the GNU Backgammon program and I am playing against "grandmaster" and its not hard enough.

How can i set it to stronger, but still have reasonable acting time?

Anyone familiar with this program?

I think supremo has been found to be both a (little) bit stronger and faster (even though it's a lower ply). EDIT: Actually I'm not sure if this is still the case. They might have improved 3-ply since then.

You can crank up the settings: Go to Settings, Players, Advanced Settings and crank up the plies for checkerplay and cube, but just going up to 4-ply will make it very slow unless you have a supercomputer, I think.

But really if you find grandmaster to not be good enough then you're probably the best player in the world right now

Yeah, some quick research seems say that grandmaster is stronger than supremo, so just stick with that.

Trust me if you feel you're winning to easily, it's just luck and you'll be banging your head against the desk soon enough if you keep playing it.

yeah grandmaster has 3-ply, and 4-ply makes it freakin epic slow..so i can't change that

but if you look grandmaster advanced settings, it has a "move filter" set to normal...does changing it affect his strength?

PS! when you hold your mouse on "modify", you can see what "move filter" means.

Yep, increasing the move filter will make it a little stronger as well, not sure how much. It should make it slower as well though.

I don't play online at all. Rake is a big factor, though, and I think few players are actually able to overcome the rake.

If gnub grandmaster is too easy you should be able find more enemies than you can count.

If you were to play 10 matches (let's say to 11 points) against GNU at this setting, about how many of those matches do you expect to win?
