GNU doubling mistake? GNU doubling mistake?

I have played a game against GNU Backgammon at Grandmaster settings (both for the game and for cubing decisions). When I analysed the game, I was not surprised to find some of my moves labelled 'bad', but why would a double made by GNU be labelled this way?

What settings should I put GNU to in order to play against it without it making mistakes?

My guess is you are analyzing the match on a different setting than the one you are playing against.

You can check this under the Settings, Analysis tab.

From what I know, I wouldn't recommend playing against or analyzing with Grandmaster. I believe it's actually weaker (and slower) than Supremo, but I haven't used GNU in along time, so maybe that has changed.

I personally play on world class - grandmaster is way too slow, and set analysis to gm and it occasionally finds a blunder here and there. But overall it's not a big drop in skill at least comparatively speaking, maybe 0.5 er or so.

Thanks. It hadn't occurred to me that the analysis would not automatically be set to the same level as the game, but now that Grandmaster has been ditched, it doesn't diagnose any mistakes on the part of the computer now.

I use Hint button to understand cube decisions better at GNU. Sometimes it says double-take but when I double it drops. Similarly, sometimes he says double-pass but when I double he takes it. Why do you think this happens?

Same reason most likely. You're playing against gnu on a different setting than the one it's hinting with.

I always play and analyse on grandmaster setting (3ply), its always consistent (meaning: he never sees himself making mistakes),

greetings k.
