Part of the reason I am keen to learn backgammon, other than a love for the game, is a few of my mates play, and there is some decent money to be made. We recently went to Mana Pools, a game reserve in the north of Zimbabwe, and had set up camp and felt we deserved a rest and a beer or three.
I had read the instructions for chouette backgammon, and we were getting stuck in when this fellow wandered into view. We hoped he would keep a respectable distance, but it soon became apparent that he was keen to join in. We played on until he was about 20 feet away, and then beat a hasty retreat down the river bank behind a tree to allow him to wander past. The game continued thereafter...
