I have been playing on Galaxy for a few weeks now and I think it is great. I like the error rating system where you have to get a lower error rating than your opponent to increase your PR. The downside I have found to this system, is that if you have a blitz you usually get a higher error rating than your opponent. This is because you have made a far greater number of moves and your opponent has spent most of the game on the bar or playing forced moves and has not had an opportunity to make errors. I have won many games like this and my PR has not moved. I suppose it works both ways if you suffer a blitz.

I also won a tough single game match recently where my error rating was 1.05 and my opponent was 1.03 so no PR points were awarded.

Should there not be a threshold of say 2.0 or even 3.0 error rating points of difference before the error rating system kicks in and prevents you from being awarded PR points? This would help to address both of these issues.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

As long as the system works the same for both players I think it's fine the way it is.

I do think that blitzing gets penalized in the ratings, have had many matches where this happens.

yes, very easy to make errors and blunders when blitzing. I have made a concerted effort now to contain my zeal, slow down, think and not "steam from ahead".

Totally agree. Blitzing is higher risk but higher reward and can make more PR errors than opponent
I cannot think like a computer program and if I’m playing a competitor with much higher rating I’m feel that’s my only edge.

I would just point out that there will be games where your opponent is blitzing you and now this bias works in your favor.

I think the number of people that blitz is lower than those that don't, at least in the 1600 range where I am.

I came in here meaning to post exactly what the OP did and I realized it was the games I blitz that are by far the worst. I just did a 3-game match that ended in a couple minutes by my double cube and their resign/gammon and my error rating was around 35. I looked at the analysis and there were only a few blunders, less than my opponents yet their rating was 20-something. I have seen a few other match analysis' where I have less blunder/errors than them yet my error rating is higher so I am not sure exactly how it works.

In a system that directly rewards PR, making a play you think is lower PR in order to try to have a better PR is...suspicious strategy at best
