Extend the prime or build the board? Extend the prime or build the board?

This is from a match I played last night. Match to 7 trailing 3-0. I am red to play 5-4.

I ran this through GNU but wanted to get others opinions. I thought for a few minutes before making this move as it seemed like the most crucial decision of the match. I considered the following moves.

13-8,12-8, extending the prime.

6-1,5-1 making a point on my board while black is still dancing, but behind his anchor taking them essentially out of play,

13-4 not making a point but increasing the chances of making the 3 point next roll.

Hitting and making the ace point is wrong for the reason you gave, and because it helps black keep the five point prime intact longer. You want black to re-enter and break down first. Playing 13/4 has to be wrong because if you need the best chance of making the three point there is 13/9, 12/7 available. Making the eight point forces black to play a backgame by taking away the sixes which could be used to escape. You also need the five point prime badly if you get sent to the bar. I would be happy for such a good 5-4 roll, and play 13/8, 12/8 with confidence.

In this position, 5-4 and 6-1 are the numbers you're praying for. Make the 8-point and let Black enter and collapse.
