I keep running into a problem with my end game where I am 12-24 ahead of my opponent in pips and I have retailed at least one of thewir pieces in my home board and I have only 2-4 pieces left in total to come in from the 7 and 8 points and yet time and time again the opponent regardless of rating seems to somehow alway pull off hitting my pieces when i get a bad roll when i am forced to leave a singleton on one of those ponts regardless of how careful i am to avoid this. This always ends upo with me losing the game.

So for most of the game i tend to be ahead and then like 6-8 rolls before the game is over theyve completely turned things around. So i end up feeling great about game play until in the last part of the game they take it all away from me.. I know it isn't "Luck" as Backgammon is 95% skill,. So i am wondering if any of you have any tips for me (I mean beside just letting them get all their pieces out of my home board before the end game, Ive tried that and have always been slaughtered in the process.)

Any help and tips would be appreciated. Thank you kindly for your consideration.

Post a position and a roll to play and you'll get some comments. Otherwise it sounds like you've just had a run of bad luck.

This is a clear D/P and I'd be curious if you missed doubles on earlier rolls. 44 pips with limited hitting chances is a tremendous pass.

What do you mean by a D/P or a pass?

D/P means you should have doubled and your opponent should pass the double. If you aren’t familiarity doubling, then you really need to get caught up quickly; your game will suffer immensely from poor cube play. Basically, if you have cube access, you can choose to double before rolling the dice for your turn. Your opponent then has the option to take your double and play on with the value of the current game doubled (2 points if it’s an initial double) or pass the double and lose the current game at its current value (1 point if it’s an initial double). You got unlucky in the positions you posted, but it should never have come to that — you could have forced your opponent to pass a double and you’d have won these games.

Hi RC, Stremba gave you that advice; you should have doubled and your Opponent had a pass.

Also (and this is a lot more general) you should aggressively hit loose blots in your board to prevent him from anchoring up.
