More curiosity than anything else. In my relearning the game I have played 20 1 game matches with a continually sinking ELO as I keep losing - not a big deal as its the "PR" I'm concerned with and I'm averaging 11.65
Now I'm going to start with Unlimited Games where Gammons and Backgammons come into play - Does ELO take into account Gammons and Back gammons?
and BTW - of those 20 games? in 15 of those I had unlucky or much worse dice. sigh!
I would have thought ELO is only for matches, but apparently, XG does some ELO calculation for unlimited games as well. In XG, if you go to Windows -> Elo Calculator, you can see it takes the number of points won/lost in a game into account when calculating ELO changes.
But how were planning on playing unlimited games without the cube? I don't see an option to do that in XG. Were you just going to play against it, always take and never double, or something like that? It doesn't make sense to do that and then look at PR because you'll get dinged for bad cube actions. And even if you just look at checker play errors, that doesn't work either, because the fact that XG thinks the cube is in play can affect what the recommended checker play is.
