Does anyone play on Hardwood BG site? Does anyone play on Hardwood BG site?

Hi,

Newbie to this forum.

I used to play with the guys at the Tollgate Pub in N London (run by Paul Lamford), but obviously that's not an option under lockdown. I've been looking at how to organise an online, closed tournament and there's a site called Hardwood Backgammon that seems promising. It has a nice UI, choice of boards, etc.

It links to another site called tourneyking.com which allows you to create a closed league, add players to that league and then create a tournament; with brackets and flowcharts generated and other options such as 'wooden spoon' consolation playoffs.

However, to play with a cube and Crawford on the Hardwood site, you need to be able to access a closed room, for which you need a Plus Membership' at £4.99 per month. This seems quite reasonable, and so I paid it, but my membership hasn't activated. There seems to be a big list of active players, so I'm pretty-sure it's not a con or a scam.

Has anyone else had any joy playing on this site, and/or organising a tournament through Tourney King?

Failing that, does anyone know of any tournament-organising sites? I've downloaded GridGammon but I can't see how to apply for membership.

Many thanks

Miles

I can recommend Backgammon Galaxy as a playing site. It's got plenty of features, including the ability to download your matches for study. The site runs its own tournaments, and you could run a closed tournament of your own and use that as the site. You'd have to do the coordinating yourself.
