"Bill Riles recorded the final. I believe the final score was 15-2. I missed everything but the end of the final game. But Bill said that it was one of the most lucky matches he's ever had. He also said that his first round match in this event was probably the single luckiest match he has ever had in his 35 years of playing backgammon."
Thanks to all. The tournament was really well run and the hotel was great. Best view of Manhattan I've ever seen.
My first match was against Bruce Hall, and I won 13-0 in four games. I said afterwards that I thought if you could rate the luck quotient somehow in a match, this was the luckiest match I ever played. Not in the sense that I threw some great number to turn a game around, just in the sense that I rolled so well that I never had a problem. Every roll either made a point, hit a shot, or was a double that jumped a prime or won a race. Bruce was a real gentleman. I think if someone had lost a match like this against Snowie or XG, he could have submitted it as conclusive proof that the computer fixed the dice!
