Dear All,

I average 6.0 PR on XG on last 40 games (only 7 pt games) and have lost 8 x 5-point games in a row live against someone who was easily above 10.0 of PR. This can happen of course, but the odd thing is that we were playing with his board and the amount of double 66s he rolled in races was unreal and I ended up losing a significant amount of money.

I have now purchased my own board and told him I would only play with it going forward to which he agreed.

Is there any chance for anyone to rig the dice (i.e with magnets or anything else) if I bring my own board or am I absolutely safe in this regards ? Note that there are two other people than me in the room (my opponent and his friend)

Make sure he's rolling the dice in a legal fashion. I was once cheated by someone who forced one of the dice.

I'll assume your using lipped shaking cups & rounded edge dice? This helps keep honest players honest.

But if you've stumbled across a dice mechanic there are loaded dice & others that when at rest look perfectly normal but only have three numbers (ie, 445566 for bearing off).

So in other words, he has no other way to cheat with the dice beside being very skilled at throwing dice with a cup.

Absolutely no other way to cheat ?

I'm certainly not willing to make that strong of a claim and I doubt anyone else would be.

I would say it's a lot more likely that he's a much better player than you think and/or he sandbags when money is not on the line so he can artificially show a lower skill level. My guess is that it's a lot more likely you got hustled than cheated. If it bothers you that much, record a couple matches and see what happens.

Use a felt or fabric board. Dice can be slid instead of rolled on a slick surface.
