If you google Canadian Backgammon Federation, the only result is an organization that looks extremely dodgy (https://www.backgammoncanada.com/ - poke around for yourself, you should see lots of red flags). I asked a local tournament director about this organization and he told me the following:

"...the so-called Canadian Backgammon Federation is a scam. One of our members had the misfortune of traveling and playing in a tournament organized last year by this entity. During the tournament he almost called the authorities to charge the organizers with fraud!?"

Furthermore, I also found a reddit thread about the CBF which contains further consensus that the organization is a scam.

Does anybody know: a) what can or should be done about this; b) if there is a reputable Canadian equivalent to the USBGF, UKBGF, etc. that is being drowned out by all the results related to this scam organization; c) how to go about getting a legitimate CBF up and running?

The only thing “dodgy” here is your post. Pity you’re not Canadian - you could apply for Membership and compete instead of talking.

I don't know anything about this organization, but their internet site certainly is different. I couldn't imagine a German organization asking: "Are you German? If not, you can't play here ..." There are a lot of players with Turkish or middle eastern background in Germany and I wonder how welcoming they would find such an invitation ...
