Gnu set to World Class 2-ply. Obviously I'm crushed but why does Gnu mark 15/9 5/3 as top roll and 15/7 as 4th best? if the race was close would you still play it this way? Is there a theory behind this?

my best guess is I'm preping for 6's?

On a side note: Some recent live game experience got me thinking about error rates and the like. I played this match at a 2.5 snowie error rate and still got killed. I've been averaging higher single digits with the occasional 15 ER sprinkled in. Last night, I played with a 77 year old guy who after playing one match with me refused to play me for money since my "game is not strong enough" lol

a lot to learn...

gnu rates all plays as even, because you lose no matter what. If gammons mattered you play 15/7 to avoid getting gammoned on 21.

If you actually had a chance to win the game it's probably close between 9/7 and 6/4. 5/3 would be awful in case you roll two fives. I think 6/4 probably to avoid creating a gap on the four- or fivepoint.

HI Nick-

MIght I suggest you try turning off the MWC (by clicking on the MWC toggle button). GNU will then return an absolute error based on equity difference, which is much easier to wrap your head around than is MWC. (imo)

(of course, in this particular problem, it will make little difference, zero is zero is zero)

Best of Luck!

If you're just playing a match to 5, it's easy to lose 2 or 3 games just because the dice don't like you. If you were playing 2.5 ER and lost a 10-game match 25-0 or something, then it would be notable. I lost a 7-game match to GNU at under 1.0 ER once. Got blitzed/doubled/closed out twice. Whee.
