Let’s say my opponent has two pieces on point 1 and 2 on point 5.

I have a piece on point 2, on point 3 and another on point 6

I roll a 5 and a 1.

I’m Under the impression as I can’t move my 6 point, I must move my 3point forward one and then move it off the board.

Is that correct?

Incorrect. You simply cannot play the 5, you only play the 1.

No. You don't have a legal 5, so you can only play your one by going 3/2. Then your turn is over.

The rule is that you can use a bigger number to bear off from a lower point only if you have no checkers on any higher point. Here you do have a checker on a higher point, and even if it can't legally move it's still a checker on a higher point.

I must admit I'm lost on this one.

Your opponent's position seems to be irrelevant to the scenario.

You have one checker on your two point, one checker on the three point, and one checker on your six point. You roll a 5 and a 1.

You can and should move the checker from your six point off the board, which is actually the recommended computer move.

Am I missing something here??

Yep.

You would have to start by first moving your checker to either the 5 point or the 1 point, and they are both blocked.

What exactly is blocked? You can move the checker on the 6 point to the 5 point, and then from the 5 point off the board. I've played it out in XG and it seems to work fine.

All checkers (your opponent's and yours) are in your inner board. In other words, your opponent has points made in your own inner board. So yes, your 1-pt and 5-pt are blocked.

That's what I was missing obviously. The OP doesn't actually say the opponent is occupying spaces in his inner board or that the opponent has other pieces left on the board besides the ones stated. I assumed both were bearing off based on how it is written.

I also assumed that at first.
