Did this game really take place in real life? If so, who are the players? Any video?

Another question: Move #6 (White 53; Bar/5* 19/22*)

You say this could leave White free to make a new blocking point next turn. Would covering the blot on the 22 be considered one of your goal if you didn't roll the 6/1 like was rolled.

No. I made up the game to illustrate some of the issues involved in playing a backgame.

Move 12: White 65.

You didn’t mention 1/7 as an possible move of 6 with any explanation as to why not leading to 5/11 by “process of elimination”.

1/7 keeps you connected to the piece on the 5 spot. Is that a possible move?

Move 14 white 4/1.

When I first see this I automatically think 17/22 and cover to close the 3 point inner board to make 3 points. I’m surprises you never mentioned this option, only the option to close the 2 point.

There's no need to keep your back checkers connected because nothing is happening on that side of the board. Your goal here is to build a prime and block in your opponent's rear checkers. 20/14 promotes that idea by working on your 9-point and 10-point.

When your opponent is playing a backgame, the whole idea is to build blocking points in front of him, eventually keeping him trapped and ruining his timing. The most important point on the board is White's 7-point, and this roll lets you make it. Any other play is a blunder.

BTW, I should have mentioned 8/3 as a common error, along with making the 2-point.
