Hi!
I have added a fair amount of improvements to my backgammon studio recently:
Today I added support for showing matches that has match comments:
https://flic.kr/p/uoU6sS I think these matches are of special interest as these comments contain valuable insights which you won't get from just seeing the hard facts from an XG evaluation.
Yesterday I added support for image view of match positions found:
https://flic.kr/p/tGvZyM when you're searching for match errors. This gives a quick overview of the positions found and you can click on the images to view the position along with the XG evaluation. You can make up your opinion of what you would have played and then click on the image to check if you hit the target or not. This is unfortunately only available on the commercial server as it requires more cpu and disk space to do (which is rather limited on the free server).
Earlier I changed the UI to be a bit cleaner and easier to navigate (I hope):
https://flic.kr/p/uygUHf
I have also made the UI a bit more dynamic so if you resize the board window the board will change size to fit the window as best as possible. This also applies to the match list view.
I have also added a link to the latest match comment on the front page:
https://flic.kr/p/uj9sCF so you can quickly spot when a new commented match has been uploaded.
There are some new options when playing through match errors:
https://flic.kr/p/trUHVY you can select 'match any double throw' as filter which will only display positions where a double throw is to be played. This is useful when you want to quiz yourself on certain position types where doubles are difficult to play.
There is also an option to have all possible moves match the error threshold so you can filter out positions where there are borderline choices. Normally the error that was done in the actual match that must match the error threshold.
There is also a few more action tags you can select:
https://flic.kr/p/up8z7X
The challenge selection view has been improved:
https://flic.kr/p/u7m6UL Now it is easier to see which challenges you have tried before and which ones you have still left to try.
You can configure the UI to some extent by moving buttons around in the interface to fit your liking:
https://flic.kr/p/u7tVPZ So if you don't use the 'help' button much you can move it away into the other section or hide it completely.
It is possible to find out what the most common error a certain player does:
https://flic.kr/p/tdtfgB (this one shows for everybody). So if you have your private database you can find out what type of move you have most problem with. This is only available on the commercial server though. Want to know what the most common error that Mochy does? Now there is a way to find out! :-)
The commercial server is also better at handling commented matches in different languages:
https://flic.kr/p/sXKms2 Then again it is best if matches were commented in english as I think that is the most commonly understood language.
There is also a match archive where you can download the XG matches that has been uploaded to the server:
https://flic.kr/p/tJ815P If you have a private database (on the commercial server) you also have a private match archive.
The other day I was surprised to see a follower on my flicker stream:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/108019204@N07 so I guess if you're interested in following the updates to my backgammon server more closely you can follow this stream as I update it whenever I add anything new to the server.
On the start page there is a link to 'Backgammon Studio Champions' which is players who has the top highscore position on different types of challenges.
https://flic.kr/p/uF6yb7 Hall (another norwegian backgammon player) and me are in the lead with 4 top spots. Try to beat us! :-)
I suspect I have forgotten a fair amount of minor improvements so give the site a try and see if you find anything interesting!
