Hello,I would like to know what skills in backgammon could be useful in poker and what concepts are the same.
There are a lot of backgammon players that are successful in poker and I think the concept of 'equity' in backgammon really helps when looking at a certain decision in poker.
Also of course that one needs a lot of discipline in hu moneygame in backgammon-not to take every double when one is behind on the scoresheet. The same kind of discipline will help in poker too so that you dont go on tilt when you are losing already.
Whats also interesting is the psychology at every cube decision in backgammon, that can also be sometimes a bit like poker.
anybody else knows ideas which are useful for both games or also something that is completly different maybe...

Oh hell yes. Nothing can tilt you like backgammon. Stuff can happen that is far worse than your basic one outer in poker.

The most recent one was a guy on party gammon who caught up my 60 pip lead by rolling 6 large doubles in a row. I lost with the cube on 8.

I have played quite a lot online and sometimes I wanted to bite into my keyboard because of the incredibly bad things that kept happening. On the other hand sometimes it's you who is handing out these kind of blows. I saved my keyboard by telling me that to calm me down.

As a result I don't go mad so easily in poker. Quite a good thing, isn't it? (-:

Have a look into the sticky. Bill Robertie has something to say on backgammon bad beats there.
