Backgammon in NYC? Backgammon in NYC?

Hey guys,

I've done some googling but wanted to get your thoughts on the best places to play in NYC. Ideally, I'd be able to play for money and for fun, especially since it seems like there's some question about bot-use online, etc. Is that a legitimate concern?

Sorry for the basic question, but I thought you guys would have a good idea.

Thanks,
Mariogs

P.S. Magriel's book is unreal; so much stuff in there I didn't even begin to think about before picking it up. Lot to learn, heh...

This is a good group meetup. A few very strong players and a solid level throughout. Casual play, some side action and chouettes.

There's a club in Chelsea somewhere, someone at the meetup could give you the address.

There's a tournament at Lincoln Center at the atrium once a month on Sundays.

Good luck

In good weather, there's a group of chess and backgammon tables set up behind the library in Bryant Park all day. Players are the usual collection of NYC street folk. Some are pretty good.

If you come out ahead, you might get paid. Good luck.
