Back Game Question

Hello, I have a question regarding a back game:
This is the position I am asking about:

photo upload sites

I created this position after playing out from a real position from a match.
My question is what should my strategy be from here. I thought I should be making my 4 and 2 points to prevent white from having a 3 points back game,
but when I am making my 2 point, for example with a 6-1 roll, GNU thinks this is an error. Why is that? With a roll of 2-2 for example I can make both points, but it's still an error. Why does it want me to leave the 2 point open? thanks for any help.

Re: Back Game Question

In a back game think purity. Your strategy against a back game is to build a prime in front of the highest anchor, separate his checkers so he cannot connect his back checkers to his front checkers any longer, and have him crash his board before your leave the shot.

In this position, making the bar point fits that strategy much more than making the 2 pt. In fact, any checker past the front anchor at this point is "buried." Why bury a second checker. Leave it there and hope he hits it to recycle that checker to use at the back of your prime.

The 4pt. is different. That one can make up the prime in front of his front anchor.

Re: Back Game Question

In fact with a 6-2, I would be tempted to make the 4pt and slot the bar point insted of making both points.

Re: Back Game Question

Bar point without hesitation. I don't care about 3pt. backgame, we can defend against it by recirculating checkers, and breaking his board. If he makes the bridge at our bar point homever, we're in a pretty bad shape.

As for the strategy - make points in order. For sure don't cover the 2pt. - that checker must be recirculated to buy time to wait for his board breach. I'm not sure we should even cover the 4pt. when possible. We might keep it open to recirculate more easily, and deny him opportunities to dance, which helps him preserve his timing.

I've seen positions, where you break the 4-to-9-pt. 6-prime at golden point against a backgame, just to recirculate and try to win the timing battle.
