Analysing an XG game? Analysing an XG game?

Hello,

So I have a completed 25 point match against ExtremeGammon and I have saved the file.

What sort of analysis can I run (and how)?

I have looked at the user guide and, to be honest, I am overwhelmed with the amount of options available so I've gone a bit word blind :-)

Any pointers appreciated.

XG will have been analyzing the match as you went along, so right now most of what you want is already in the file.

The first thing you want to do is just open the file and look at the information box in the bottom left (or right, depending on your setup). This will containing information on your number of checker play errors and blunders, your luck (or lack of it) and your PR (performance rating). This info gives you a quick overview of how well you played and how lucky or unlucky you were.

The next step is to go through the match and look at your errors (marked in green) and your blunders (marked in red) and see if you can figure out why XG's recommended play is better. In the bottom right-hand corner of the information box is a little symbol that looks like a bubble. Click on that and you can add thoughts and notes to the move.

It's a good idea to do this while the games are fresh in your memory. That way you'll remember what you were thinking when you made the play.

There's more you can do, but that's a start.

Many thanks, I'll give it a go......all I know (from a 1000ft view) is I won comfortably against the intermediate opponent and my luck factor was "unlucky".

I need to get into the nitty gritty to see where I can improve my game, I actually thought I was a very good player but I suspect I have been lured into a false sense of security by playing weak opponents (AI Factory, I'm looking at you).
