Why not, of course. But will be hard to get out from 1pt, for example, if we do not anchor higher.

I think that being so far behind in the race, you need to be looking at a back game or trying to stir up some ****. You can't get another checker back there without destroying the really good things about your position, so a back game doesn't look feasible. If the race were more even, I think advancing your anchor would be a good approach. Since you are going to need a little help from the dice anyway, you might as well hit, and try to make something really good from those lucky rolls you are going to get.

Advancing the anchor might be reasonable if the 6 was more productive, but 24/18 seems pretty meh. So hitting is fine, good stuff can happen.

Hit and send another guy behind our nice 4-prime. Especially when we're behind. I don't worry about our ace pt. guys - White has no builders in the zone, so we will have some time to split comfortably.

There's no alternative. 24/22 24/18 builds a weak 3pt anchor and exposes to a triple shot when outboarded 4 vs 2. White will hit and build another blocking point, we might not enter for few turns, which will give her tempo to run... nah. 24/22 7/1? Send a guy to the ace pt. in prime vs prime? ...na-ah. I think it's even much worse than 24/22 24/18.

What is your game plan? You are trailing the race by 24 pips. The hitting play gains 23 pips in the race.

Then the position after the hit will be that he has 3 checkers behind a solid 4 prime and you have 2 checkers behind a broken 4 prime. Who will have more work to do trying to escape checkers?

If you advance your anchor, none of your 6's look good. You either have to bury a checker on the 1 point or step up into a triple shot. Then how do you win from there? You will have a 3 point anchor game, still losing the race and he may be triple shooting if you play 24/18.

You have to hit! He will now have 3 men behind your prime while you will have only two behind his, and you're equalizing-ish the race!
