I was searching backgammon books online and saw '501 Backgammon Problems' for pre-order to be released July 2017? What if anything will
be different from the 2017 version to prior editions?

Yes. I went through the book and updated about 35 problems and explanations to conform with XG2 rollouts.

Yes, it has been released. I pre-ordered on Amazon and got my copy in the first week of August.

I just ordered the 501 backgammon book from a Dutch online store today.

I always thought I had the second edition, and looked forward to the 35 new explanations. But I just checked it and saw I own the 1st edition I believe, with the blue cover (the purple cover was 2nd edition?).

So I wondered if there are any changes between the 1st and 2nd edition too?

Except for the cover, there were no changes between the first and second editions.
