Only two choices for the five. I don't like 13/8, since it removes threats and I'm not looking to turn this into a running game just yet. That leaves 8/3. Kind of ugly, but I don't have a lot of options. That leaves the one. 24/23, 13/12, 6/5. I would go with one of the first two, simply because I don't want to have to choose if I roll a three. 24/23 feels more natural to me, and I like the checker on the 13.

24/23 8/3.

Feels like the back checker should be left alone. There are more combos of 3s than 2s to get to the edge.

Given that the best 5 is probably 8/3, that leaves 2 options to play 1. And I cannot explain the right one.

After 8/3 the relevant factors appear to be:

13/12: dupes Black 2s but leaves 14 rolls to get to edge of the prime and gets the outfield checker closer to home so 6s and 5s are killed sooner. For example, there's an immediate swing on 6-5.

24/23: leaves only 12 rolls to get to edge for the prime, but undupes everything, so 1s, 2s and 3s do something good.

6/5 is a play too, but if you're going to leave the checker on the 24, it seems like you might as well undupe 3s and get closer to killing 5s and 6s by playing 13/12. I'd rather have 2s duped than 3s, I think.

It seems kind of close to me. I'll go with 13/12 though.
