Does anyone have any good rules, reference positions, and articles for being too good to double at 2away 3away and 2away 4away? Thanks

When leading at 2 away 3 away (or more away) ...

As leader you basically you Never Double if any gammon chances exist.

Only double a race or holding game where gammons are very low to none. If you do get to a race or holding game (LOW GAMMONS) then the cube action is similar to money game at most scores.

With contact and gammons for both sides ...

Doubling kills your gammons since opponent will rewhip for the match.

You'd rather play on for the gammon with the cube on 1. You are hoping to win a gammon to win the match. Even if your gammon chances are smallish its best to keep the cube value low.

Which is the other reason. Once you double and opponent recubes his gammons win 8 points. Nothing sucks more than to be up say 2 away 7 away, and lose the match on a freak 4 cube gammon .
