Match to 7 tied at 5 each.

If there's no opening roll for your opponent where you are at too much of a disadvantage to double, is there any reason why you wouldn't? Put another way, is there any reason why you would prefer your opponent double before his next roll instead?

The only example I can think of is that you suspect your opponent may not realize it is correct to double. Is there any tactical reason to defer?

It's a big deal if your opponent doesn't know he's supposed to double quickly at 2-away 2-away, so against an unknown opponent it's worth waiting. You don't gain anything by doubling if your opponent wins the opening roll (he's not dropping) so just wait and let him tell you what he knows.
